1. How does Pocket Money Debt Collection work?
Pocket Money Debt Collection serves as a personal automatic reminder service for your debtors. You simply record an outgoing message, specify how often you want them to be called each day, set the hours of calling and away you go! It only takes minutes to set up, after which you can then go about your business, knowing that your debtors are being consistently reminded of their outstanding debts. You therefore save precious time and ensure your presence is felt, without spending all day on the phone.
2. What should my messages say?
The details of your messages are entirely up to you! Nonetheless, we advise our customers to keep things general; a good example would be:
“Hi this is Tom from Tom’s Carpets, please call us in the office on XXX-XXXXXX regarding your outstanding bill. My number again is XXX-XXXXXX. Call me as soon as you can. Thank you.”
Be sure to include your name, the name of the company and a number they can reach you on.
3. Can I record a different message for a different type of debt?
Yes. Pocket Money lets each account holder record up to ten outgoing messages to allow for different circumstances that might arise with different debtors. For example, for a longstanding outstanding debt, you may wish to have a different message for a debtor than you would have for a debtor whose debt has recently become overdue.
4. How often should I call my debtors?Again, this is entirely up to you. The longer a debt is outstanding or the more you feel as if a debtor is avoiding your requests for payment, you may wish to be more frequent with your reminder calls. We would recommend that you start off on a small number of calls, say two or three per day, and steadily increase volumes (say by a further 2 or 3 calls per day) for each week that you do not receive a satisfactory response.
5. Can I use Pocket Money for reasons other than Debt Collection?Of course! Provided your calls are not intended to be needlessly abusive, harassing or otherwise in violation of the law, we encourage our customers to use our service anywhere it may save them time or money. If you have a large volume of customers that all need to get the same message about a promotion or change to service, you can always use your Pocket Money account. Likewise, if you change mailing address or phone number, you can always use your Pocket Money account to let your customers know. Just don't forget to record a different message for promotions than for debt collection!
6. How do I know if the calls get through?
Customers can access calling reports for each of their debtors in their accounts section. For further details of how to do this, please see our tutorial section here.
7. How much does it cost?
Calls to all Irish landlines are charged at 5c per call. Calls to all Irish mobile networks are charged at 15c per call. We also offer a selection of rates to international landlines and mobile networks, details of which can be found in our call pricing section here.
8. How do you bill customers?
Pocket Money uses a very simple prepayment system, allowing you to easily and accurately budget your usage. Customers can conveniently credit their accounts using a Visa, Mastercard or Laser Card. Our clear unambiguous "per-call" charges are then automatically deducted from your account as you make reminder calls. We will notify you by email when your account approaches zero and cease calls immediately when your account depletes. You are therefore in complete control of how much you are charged for this service and need never worry about overspending.
9. Does this actually work?
Absolutely! We have many clients who can verify that this process works. However, not all debts can be collected and the process may require flexibility on your part - be prepared to settle for lesser amount or staged payments in some circumstances. Be patient also, it may take weeks rather than days to get your message across, depending on the debtor and the volume of calling. As above, we suggest starting low and gradually increasing calls if a satisfactory response is not received.
10. So "debt collection" - how much commission do you charge?
None! We are a service company rather than debt collection agents. No matter what the size of the debt you use our service to collect, you will never have to pay Pocket Money Debt Collection a cent in commission (unless, of course, you want to!).
11. Do you charge V.A.T.?
Yes. Pocket Money apply V.A.T. at the Irish standard rate. This charge is calculated and applied at the point of deposit. Your Pocket Money account is then credited with the amount deposited, not including V.A.T. So for example, assuming the standard rate of V.A.T. to be 21%, depositing EUR20.00 to your Pocket Money account will result in a EUR24.20 charge being applied to your credit or laser card. Using this method, we do not need to calculate V.A.T. charges on each individual call, which ensures that our per-call charges are kept at round figures, permitting you to easily monitor and forecast your usage. Businesses reclaiming V.A.T. can generate deposit receipts through their accounts, which include Pocket Money's V.A.T. details and an itemised breakdown of their charges.
